Hi, my name is Renato and I’m waiting for you at Ristorante da Alvise.
I know, I know… my name is Renato, and the name of the restaurant is ‘da Alvise’. But don’t worry, if you call me Alvise I don’t get offended!
I was born, raised and have always lived in Venice. My passions have always been cooking and rowing, both in traditional Venetian style. I love the sea and the lagoon flavors and you can find them at Alvise’s all year round, and they vary depending on the season. Mine is an honest, traditional cuisine, made of a few fresh ingredients that I get from trusted suppliers at the Rialto Market, here in Venice. At Alvise’s you will find the ‘cozze’ (mussels) from Pellestrina, the caparossoli (clams) from Burano, the castraure (artichokes) from Sant’Erasmo and… and then come either for lunch or dinner! So you can see what I have bought fresh at the market.
If you love meat more than fish, I can offer you dishes of the Venetian tradition: the Venetian liver traditionally made, with calf’s liver, white onion and white wine. For delicate palates I suggest the special cuts of meat prepared by my butcher: grilled fillet and sirloin.
I also recommend a good glass of wine. I have chosen small local producers of excellence, who only supply restaurants and wine bars.
And the pizzas? Here you can always find them in a variety of choices and toppings, Alvise pleases all the different palates. You will find the classic and the special ones and my latest creation: a new pizza – dedicated to the most known person or event of the year.
To end on a sweet note, the desserts are all homemade: from the traditional tiramisu to the typical Burano cookies, zaleti and esse, and the homemade cakes.
